Clarinet/Saxophone/Piano/Music Theory

Sarah Jaegers is a solo, chamber, and orchestral clarinetist and music educator originally from Holland, Michigan. New to New Mexico, Dr. Jaegers previously held positions as the Clarinet Teaching Artist and Woodwind Lead at Enriching Lives Through Music (San Rafael, CA), clarinet, saxophone, and piano faculty at Amabile School of Music (San Francisco and Moraga, CA) and Notes Music Academy (Oakland, CA), Mentor Artist and Music Specialist with Youth In Arts (San Rafael, CA), and Clarinet Clinician for the San Francisco Lesbian/Gay Freedom Band. She still maintains an active private studio. Her students have consistently received the highest ratings at Solo and Ensemble festivals. Many have gone on to play in college bands and pursue a career in music. Dr. Jaegers performs as principal clarinetist with Araya: Sounds of Latin America, Rhode Island Recording Ensemble, and the DesertLake Duo, and previously performed as principal clarinet of the Golden Gate Park Band in San Francisco, CA. She has performed with Bay Area symphonies and pit orchestras including the Santa Cruz Symphony, Fresno Philharmonic, and Berkeley Playhouse, as well as the Walla Walla Symphony and Mid-Columbia Symphony in Washington. A proponent of new music, Dr. Jaegers has commissioned new works and arrangements by composers including Zachary Friedland, Manuel Hurtado Dueñez, Francisco Javier de Alba, and Jacob Lee Faist. She frequently performs and presents at national and international conferences and festivals including the International Clarinet Association's ClarinetFest®, the American Single Reed Summit, Belgian Clarinet Academy, the European Clarinet Festival, and the Corsi Internazionali di Perfezonamento Musicale in Cividale del Friuli, Italy. Dr. Jaegers serves as the Musician/Worker Relations and Music Manager for the Rhode Island Recording Ensemble and is an audio and music reviewer for the ICA's journal, The Clarinet. An international performer, Dr. Jaegers has toured in countries throughout Europe. She is devoted to expansion of the clarinet repertoire and diversification of the canon, especially by promoting works by Turkish composers. Dr. Jaegers holds a DMA in clarinet performance from The Ohio State University, an MM from Michigan State University, and BM and BA degrees from Iowa State University. She loves working with students of all levels and helping them to express their unique voice through music. Aside from music, Dr. Jaegers enjoys spending time with her husband, daughter, and two cats, hiking with her Great Dane, Thunder, and playing board games.
