Guitar/Bass/Ukulele/Mandolin
Robert Shapero is a classically trained guitarist with over a decade of teaching experience. His
musical journey began in his home state of Kentucky, where he studied under guitarists Dennis Davis
and Dieter Hennings Yeomans. While attending Eastern Kentucky University, Robert showcased his
talent by competing in the Josephine Walker American Music Competition and taking second place.
His passion and dedication to the craft led him to California, where he studied privately with Mesut
Özgen, the first guitarist to be awarded the “Dean’s Prize” from the Yale School of Music.
In 2017, Robert completed his Bachelor of Arts in Guitar Performance at Northern Arizona University
under the tutelage of Thomas Sheeley, winner of the International Manuel M. Ponce Competition in
1982. In his free time Robert enjoys playing Bluegrass tunes on his mandolin, participating in his local
disc golf league, collecting rocks and minerals, and hiking with his Australian cattle dog Floyd.
