Description

Take your music comprehension to the next level by studying music theory!
Those who complete the entire course will be prepared to take the exams offered by Trinity College London and earn a prestigious certificate.

TRINITY FALL THEORY EXAM: SATURDAY, 9/5/22.

These theory courses will be on levels 1-8 of the Trinity College, London program. Students will learn everything from the basics of music theory up to more advanced levels. The main purpose of these courses will be to prepare the students to take the Trinity College exams in the spring, to familiarize themselves with techniques that will better help them understand the music they are learning and performing, as well as give them the basic tools necessary to compose music.

Schedule

Tentative Class Dates: 9/11, 9/25, 10/9, 10/23, 10/30, 11/13, 11/27, and 12/11 (8 total sessions)

Grade 3 & 4: 2:45-3:45pm

Grade 6 & 7: 4-5pm

For students taking the exam: the exam will be on Saturday, November 5, in the morning at AIM. In preparation for the exam, all students taking the exam are REQUIRED to come to AIM for class on Sunday, October 23 for a practice exam. You will sit and take the exam from 2:45-3:45, and then class will follow where Colin will go over the exam with everyone.

Additional Information

Class sizes are limited, and are subject to minimum enrollment levels in order to be held.  If a class is canceled for any reason, you will receive a refund.

Instructor

Instructor Colin Martin is a native of Albuquerque. As a renowned composer from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and teacher, he brings years of experience both as a pianist and as a composer into these classes in order to give students the best experience possible and further enrich their overall musical studies. He hopes that these classes will help enhance students’ love of music and inspire them to compose their own works.
